Owen Hall Information

Residential Life

Residential Life at Owen Hall involves a wide variety of activities that contribute to the educational needs of residents. The Residential Life program is based on a three-part foundation of Resident Assistants, Faculty Fellows, and Hussar Club activities. A Resident Assistant lives on each floor, responsible for 45-50 residents and is available to assist them or refer them to campus experts for further help. The Resident Assistant also develops and provides a variety of social and educational programs for their floors.

The Hussar Club

All Owen Hall residents are members of the Hussar Club, which exists to encourage scholastic achievement, promote a varied program of activities to meet the social and educational needs of residents and to foster a spirit of unity and loyalty to the club, Owen Hall and Purdue. The Hussars were named for the elite Hungarian and Polish light cavalry of the 17th and 18th century.

A representative body that serves as the Hall's student government leads the Hussar Club. It consists of an Executive Board of committee chairs and program directors, and a Senate of elected floor representatives. In addition to organizing and promoting social and educational programs, the club leadership works with the Area Residential Manager and Residential Life Manager to develop hall policies. There are numerous opportunities to get involved in club activities as an officer, committee member or participant.

Faculty Fellows

Faculty Fellows participate in hall and floor activities and weekly dinners to provide residents a personal connection with Purdue's faculty outside the classroom. Hussar Club activities focus on hall-wide social events. The club also sponsors intramural sports teams, a go-cart racing team, and other special interest activities.
